L'album "Johnny Hallyday Sings America's Rockin' Hits" sort le 27 avril 1962. Johnny enregistre du 17 au 20 février, au Bradley Recording Studio de Nashville, seize chansons entièrement interprétées en anglais. Il s'agit de reprises de standards américains, à l'exception de "Hold Back The Sun" qui est l'adaptation anglaise de "Retiens la nuit". L'album sera finalement composé de douze chansons. Les quatre autres chansons enregistrées durant cette session ("Hold Back The Sun", "Garden Of Love", "Hound Dog" et "Tender Years") seront diffusées sur divers 45 tours et 33 tours dans plusieurs pays. L'album, n'étant pas uniquement destiné au public français, sort dans plusieurs pays à travers le monde et témoigne de l'ambition de Johnny de percer sur le marché international, notamment aux États-Unis, où durant le premier semestre il effectue une tournée de promotion dans plusieurs villes, participe à de nombreuses émissions radiophoniques et chante à la télévision dans l'émission "Ed Sullivan Show".
