Inventaire (Relié)

Une longue attente avant l'éveil ? Un rêve épinglé aux murs ? Chaque photographie d'Arno Paul, en exploration dans les réserves du Muséum-Aquarium de Nancy, prend ici la dimension d'une énigme, d'un songe qui précède la légende. A mi-parcours, au centre du livre, l'écrivain Philippe Claudel entrouvre la porte : « A regarder toutes ces images, on pourrait se croire au profond du ventre d'un navire, aux accents parfois felliniens, reposant et silencieux [...] On pourrait voir alors ici une version sèche, immobile, muette, anesthésiée, discrète de l'Arche de Noé. »

A long interval before waking ? A reverie pinned to the walls ? Each of Arno Paul's photographs, taken while exploring the storerooms of Nancy's Aquarium Museum, here assumes the magnitude of a mystery, of a dream that precedes the folk tale. Halfway through, in the middle of the book, the writer Philippe Claudel holds the door ajar : « Looking at all these images, we might think we were deep in the hold of a ship, one imbued with a somewhat Fellini-like atmosphere, soothing and silent [...] We might possibly see this as a dry, still, mute, anesthetized and subtle version of Noah's Ark. »
