Woody Guthrie

On connaît surtout Woodrow Wilson « Woody » Guthrie (14/07/1912 - 3/10/1967) comme chanteur, songwriter et musicien folk dont l'héritage musicale comporte des centaines de chansons politiques ou traditionnelles, de comptines pour enfants, de ballades et d'improvisations. Il se produisait souvent la guitare barrée du slogan « This Machine Kills Fascists ». Son morceau le plus célèbre, « This Land Is Your Land » est régulièrement chanté dans les écoles américaines. Beaucoup de ses chansons figurent dans les archives de la Library of Congress. Sorti en coordination avec les archives Woody Guthrie, ce coffret de 4cds est appelé à devenir la Pierre de Rosette des premiers enregistrements du chanteur. La qualité sonore est tout simplement à couper le souffle et nous avons le sentiment d'entendre le jeune Woody pour la première fois.
