Nature in ascending regions

This chromolithography is from Geographical portfolio, published in 1893 by the famous American publisher Levi Walter Yaggy. Intended for school audiences, it depicts the globe's major summits, volcanic or mountainous, classified by continent. It features the typical vegetation found on their slopes, along with a few cities indicating each degree of altitude. Its bright colours - the result of its four stone lithographic printing procedure - and its unreal proportions combine to give the work a magical atmosphere, making it a jewel of the genre.
