Franz Waxman fait partie d'un groupe de compositeurs juifs qui ont émigré au USA avant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Il a travaillé à Hollywood et a écrit des musiques de films qui sont restés célèbres : Liliom (Fritz Lang), Boulevard du Crépuscule (Billy Wilder), Rebecca , Une place au Soleil (Hitchkock). Comme on l'entendra, Joshua est une partition très forte, basée sur le personnage biblique, et qui possède un impact évident. C'est une oeuvre très personnelle, inventive et originale, qui devrait séduire les spécialisés.
