Ce nouveau volume de la série d'archives inédites de Joni Mitchell explore les années 1976 - 1980, grande période d'évolution artistique. Dans chacun des formats : des séances studio inédites, des versions alternatives, des raretés et titres live, et aussi un livre avec de nouvelles photos et un entretien avec Cameron Crowe. Ces coffrets ont été réalisés à partir de sources diverses : bandes stéréo originales et multipistes, prises de son radio et K7, enregistrements de films Nagra. Dans les années70, Joni Mitchell a poursuivi son exploration fluide du jazz qui a abouti à une fusion folk inédite (dans les albums studio Hejira (1976), Don Juan's Reckless Daughter (1977), Mingus (1979), et le live Shadows and Light (1980). Existe aussi en coffret vinyle qui propose les temps forts du 6 CD.
